I'm new to this Forum but the issue of alcohol impairment has always been of interest to me.
Research done at UCLA and other facilities has shown that the optic receptors are affected with increased blood-alcohol levels, primarily beginning at the lower end of the color spectrum (the red zone). These receptors are basically blocked, and essentially, someone who has an elevated BAC just doesn't "see" the color red. That's often the causal factor in accidents, ie: "I didn't see the red light".... "I didn't see his brake lights".... etc.
This was one of the underlying reasons that many police and fire departments added blue emergency lights to their vehicles since this color is at the far other end of the visual spectrum.
Anyway, as I said, I'm new to this Forum and just wondered if this aspect of DUI had been discussed.
